Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as they discover more of the best places to wine, dine and stay in Victoria, at 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Lauren Phillips is in South Yarra (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boonwurrung Country). She gets away from the hustle and bustle of Chapel Street with time out in Fawkner Park, which dates back to the 1860s. A couple of blocks away at Yugen Tea Bar she enjoys omakase afternoon tea over a chat with culinary director, Stephen Nairn. Keeping in theme with omakase dining, Lauren also visits Aoi Tsuki, a new japanese dining spot on Punt Road run by Korean-born chefs Tei Gim and Jun Pak.
Shane Delia is in Footscray wandering through the colourful Footscray Market (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boonwurrung Country). First opened in 1981, Shane learns more about its history from Executive Chairman P.S.Lee. He then enjoys Vietnamese coffee at Scarlet Corner Cafe before getting to know the shopkeepers at Lisa’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, Hong Kong Meats and Gold Star Seafood while sampling their amazing range of fresh fruit, vegetable, meat and seafood.
Meanwhile, Brodie Harper takes viewers to Yarra Glen (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). She drops into the Heartswood cafe and restaurant housed in Yarra Glen’s old Colonial Bank built in 1886 to see owner and head chef, Matt Binney.
At Alowyn Gardens she embraces the blossoms and meets owner John Van De Linde. Brodie ends her day over a glass of red with Bob Curtis of Yileena Park, a small boutique winery and cellar door on the outskirts of Yarra Glen.
And Madeline Spark checks into the RACV Cape Schanck Resort in the Mornington Peninsula (Boonwurrung Country). Before showing viewers through it she checks out Gunnamatta Ocean Beach, one of the most popular surf spots in the area. She then meets manager Dean Newell for a walk through the five-star resort and learns about the health and wellness treatments on offer from One Spa manager, Kirsty Vardis. Madeline wraps up with a chat with head chef Ricky Morris about the top menu on offer at Cape Restaurant.
