Optus Sport Secures Exclusive Rights to the Emirates FA Cup –

  • Optus Sport has secured the exclusive rights to the longest running national knockout football cup competition in the world: the Emirates FA Cup.
  • This new multi-year deal unites the Emirates FA Cup with the exclusive home of the Premier League here in Australia.
  • The FA Community Shield will also become part of the Optus Sport lineup this August as part of the new deal.

The Emirates FA Cup has a new home in Australia and it’s now exclusive to Optus Sport

Founded in 1871, the Emirates FA Cup is the world’s longest running national football cup competition and features some of English football’s biggest clubs, including defending champions Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal, as well as some of the world’s best players such as Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Son Heung-Min, Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah, and offers clubs across the English football pyramid a chance to play against them all.

In May 2024 Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United beat their local rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley Stadium to claim their 13th trophy – a feat bettered only by Arsenal’s 14 Emirates FA Cup wins.

The FA Community Shield, which is the traditional curtain-raiser for the start of the new English football season, will also be coming exclusively to Optus Sport.

And in a repeat of the 2024 Emirates FA Cup Final, winners Manchester United will face off against cross-city rivals – and 2023/24 Premier League champions – Manchester City, in this season’s edition of The FA Community Shield on Sunday, August 11.

Howard Rees, Head of Optus Sport, said:

The Emirates FA Cup is one of the most prestigious knockout cup competitions in world football and we are excited to unite the Emirates FA Cup and The FA Community Shield as part of the world’s best football on Optus Sport.”

James Gray, The FA’s Commercial Director, added:

“We are really pleased to unveil this new broadcast partnership for the Emirates FA Cup in Australia.

“Optus Sport shares our vision of elevating this iconic competition even higher around the world, while preserving the rich heritage and traditions that make the cup so special, and we’re looking forward to working together over the years ahead.”
