Netflix’s latest Australian production, Irreverent premieres 4 December

An American crook screws up the heist of his life and is forced to hide out in a small Australian reef community in Far North Queensland posing as the new church Reverend.

Irreverent is a fish out of water story with a big twist. “Reverend Mackenzie Boyd” (not his real name) is a criminal and he’s on the run from the most dangerous crime family in Chicago.

He’ll need all of his considerable street smarts to pull off his greatest sleight of hand yet posing as clergy – something he doesn’t know the first thing about. The stakes don’t come any higher; if he slips up, he’s dead.

And after a lifetime in the criminal world, doing good works is not something that comes naturally. But to his surprise, “Mack” will develop a knack for carrying his flock and eventually, maybe even like it. Irreverent is a redemption story that ultimately celebrates the power of community in a world that needs more of it.
