My Way on Channel 9 – My Way brings us a brew of brilliant Byron Bay locals ready to be enjoyed this Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Kick back and relax as My Way takes you on an escape to the Northern Rivers of New South Wales where some remarkable innovators share their special stories.
When you think of Byron Bay you might picture the stunning beaches but miss the hidden beauty of the mountains. James Hudson didn’t. He traded in the Sydney hospitality industry for the Byron hinterlands and built Blackbird, a luxurious adults-only outdoor retreat at Mount Koonyum. Here visitors get less “scene” and more scenery as they unwind and slow down in serenity. Find out how one man’s leap of faith to make a change inspired an unbelievable journey.
Revving up the pace, we meet Geoff Dorey, a former FIFO miner whose love of motorbikes created Byron Bay Motorcycle Tours.
Breaking preconceived ideas of motorbike riding being a scary experience, Geoff’s tours provide a thrilling experience while exploring the spectacular sights of Byron Bay, from the perspective of a local who’s seen and done it all.
After falling for the taste of agricole rum in the Caribbean, Paul and Mandy Messenger came home and set up Husk Farm Distillery in Tumbulgum, Australia’s first agricultural rum distillery. With the inception of the distillery, they became pioneers of Australian virgin cane rum. The use of local sugarcane, with harvesting, processing and bottling all done on site, makes Husk Farm a true canefield-to-bottle operation – proof of how you can turn your dreams into reality.
Dean Fox took a keen interest in the ocean from a very young age that sent him to work on luxury boats around the world. On returning to Byron, he twinned his love for the water and his years of experience to launch Out Of The Blue Adventures, tours organised around environmental education with marine biologists. By making his passion a way of life, Dean provides a new perspective of Byron from its open waters while raising awareness of the importance of ocean preservation.
My Way on Channel 9 Brisbane and nationally on 9Now – Sunday 15 October, 2023 at 5.30pm.
