Better Homes and Gardens on Channel 7 – storyline rundown for episode 2, 2024, screening at 7.00pm on Friday 9 February on 7 and 7plus.

ADAM + MELISSA – ASIA CRUISE: PHILIPPINES + MALAYSIA

Adam and Melissa will be setting sail on the South China Sea for a stunning tour of Asia. There is so much to see and do in this beautiful part of the world and Adam and Melissa are experiencing it all. They’ll be island-hopping through the Philippines – include a stop at the idyllic Boracay Island. Plus, deep in Borneo’s wetlands, the pair will encounter one of the world’s most unique animals: the proboscis monkey.

They’ll also visit a subterranean river park that’s recognised as one of the Seven Wonders of Nature and that’s just Week 1. The following week the adventures continue through the stunning rural landscapes of Central Vietnam and the hustle and bustle of Hoh Chi Minh City, as well. It’s truly the adventure of a lifetime and tonight, we’re kicking off of their amazing journey.

JOHANNA – UPPAREL: CLOTHES INTO FURNITURE

We all love a bargain but buying too much fast fashion is bad for the environment. On average, we each get rid of over 20 kilos of clothes every year. But what if there was an easy way to recycle it? Joh meets Michael and Tina Elias who have solved this problem. Their company, Upparel, collects your clothes and sorts them into reusables or recyclables. They’ve even found a way to make their own brand-new fibre that might just be a part of your next couch!

KAREN – ROAST PUMPKIN & RICOTTA FRITTATA

It’s always difficult to think of something different to the boring old sandwich that goes in your kids’ lunch boxes. Especially when you want that lunch to be fresh, tasty and healthy. Well, Karen’s got a dish that ticks all three boxes… Frittata. It’s so versatile you can pack it full of virtually any vegetables, but Karen’s going with pumpkin, peas and ricotta. While Frittata is perfect for your kids’ lunch boxes, it’s also great for a family meal.

COLIN – SMOKY EGGPLANT PASTA

Eating a little less meat is good for us and good for the planet. With that in mind, Colin’s going to teach you to cook the best vegetarian dish you’ll eat all year, Smoky Eggplant Pasta. Charring the eggplant brings a smokiness to compliment the range of flavours and textures brought by the vegetables and Orecchiette pasta. It’s a bit rough, rustic and a surefire winner, just like Colin.

CHARLIE – RETAINING IS EASY

Looking into your backyard area and seeing soil mounding and spilling over broken old edging made from bricks or rotting logs is a bit of downer. But what if you could spend a weekend knocking together your own small retaining wall with an additional bench seat in the middle to enjoy the garden? You might think it’s a hard task, but Charlie is going to show you how it can be super simple and easy.

JULIET – BACK TO SCHOOL: ORGANISE THEM & LOSE THE MAYHEM

The school year is back and getting your kids out the door isn’t easy, especially if their bags and stuff are littered all around the house. But with Juliet’s hallway organiser, looking for those school bags will be a thing of the past. The unit features a storage element that double as a seat, a backing board with some hooks to hang coats, bags and hats and a whiteboard organiser so no kids’ events are ever missed. And with off the shelf products and only simple DIY skills required, this project won’t cost you a lot of money or time.

DR HARRY – CONSERVATION CANINES

Dogs might be “man’s best friend” but on Phillip Island in Victoria, they’re also “Penguins best friend” too. Dr Harry meets Craig and his detection dogs, Flash and Milly, who use their keen sense of smell to find foxes and feral cats; two animals that prey on the native birds and penguins. With their help, the world’s largest colony of Little Penguins isn’t just surviving, they’re thriving.
