Better Homes and Gardens Storyline Rundown: episoe 6
JOHANNA – AFL LUKE HODGE
Seven’s AFL commentator Luke Hodge is a legend of the game. A four-time premiership player (three as captain) with Hawthorn, he finished his career in Brisbane. Now a few years post-retirement, he and his family are furthering their roots in the Queensland capital, having just bought a stunning six-bedroom home. While it has all the luxuries befitting his status as an AFL legend, it’s the backyard; a playground paradise for his four growing and active sons, that’s really kicking goals.
KAREN – FISH & MUSSELLS EN PAPILLOTE (IN PAPER)
Karen finds the dish that often causes the most headaches for people to cook is fish and seafood. If that’s you, then Karen has a fool-proof recipe for anytime you’re having friends or family over. After adding some flavours in the form of vegetables and a sauce, the key to the dish is wrapping it all up in baking paper to form a neat parcel. This really will deliver a delicious, tender seafood meal.
ADAM – SHELVING SPACE OR SPACE SHELVING?
Having built every shelving unit on earth, it’s time for Adam to explore the final frontier of storage, in a rocket-ship shaped shelving unit. Off the shelf components and straight-forward construction techniques mean this project is ready for launch. Have a crack this weekend and put a big smile on the face of the little stargazers in your world.
FAST ED – PORK, APRICOT AND ALMOND BAKE
Ed loves taking a childhood favourite and giving it a modern twist, and tonight is no different. The classic apricot chicken is getting an upgrade to apricot pork. With three kinds of apricot making a deliciously sweet gravy and some simple vegetables, it’s an easy dish to bake. While this meal will fast become your new favourite for its flavour, it’s the inexpensive cost of producing it that will keep you making it over and over again.
FAST ED – MALT & SYRUP VICTORIA SPONGE
The Victoria Sponge is a classic, but Ed’s going to mix it up with a strawberry shortcake to make one impressive looking cake. Layers of sponge, fresh strawberries and luscious whipped cream give it a touch of decadence, but it’s the unusually flavoured icing sugar and garnish that really set it apart.
CHARLIE – KEEPING IT ZESTY
Is there an Australian family that hasn’t had a citrus tree in the backyard at some point? While they may feel like they’ll grow no matter how unloved, Charlie has some juicy tips so you can squeeze the last drop of growth out of your tree. He’ll go through some less common varieties you might like to try, how to maximise growth and even how to graft dwarf stock. But if grafting is a bit beyond you, don’t worry, he has some more down to earth ideas just to get you started.
GRAHAM – PROSPECT VILLA GARDENS WALKAROUND
Graham heads to the Apple Isle to visit Prospect Villa, one of Tasmania’s most significant early Colonial Georgian country homes. While the home has been restored and lovingly maintained through the years, it’s the garden that’s the real work of art. With a formal English garden and a colourful perennial garden, the pièce de résistance is the Italian garden created from paddocks and farmland. Don’t plan on just a quick visit because this property is a labour of love that entices you to explore.
JULIET – SOY CANDLES WITH SASS
Store bought candles can get expensive, so Juliet will show you all the tips and tricks to make your own. Between recycling old jars or silverware from the back of your cupboards to using soy wax, Juliet’s candles will cost a fraction of the price. And unlike store-bought candles, you’ll have the chance to create the exact fragrance you want, or if you’re making them as a gift, you can create the exact fragrance your friends and family want!
DR HARRY – RICHARD THE PROTECTIVE ROOSTER
Dr Harry sets off on a grand adventure to tame a vicious beast… Richard the Rooster. Richard is in fact protecting his brood of hens and very good at it too, with his extra-long and razor-sharp spurs. Even with all his experience, can Dr Harry catch Richard in time to save his beloved hat from this rooster’s ferocious attack?
